Longtime Sheldon Fire Co. chief Jerry Meyer died Tuesday, Oct. 2, at his residence. He was 63.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with family present 5-7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Tri-state fire departments are paying their respects to the Key West (Iowa) Fire Department in the wake of Chief Brian Arnold’s death.
Arnold, 58, died early Monday of a medical issue, according to Pat Leonard, of Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory and a member of the Key West Fire Department.

Charles Robert Bell, Chief of the Algona Fire Department, Dies at Age 62

Charles Robert Bell was born July 21, 1955, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Loren and Bonnie (Ketelsen) Bell. He grew up in Algona and graduated from the Algona High School in 1974. He worked for Thermogas and in 1979, joined the Algona Fire Department as a volunteer fireman.
